Born in Budapest, Hungary on January 5, 1889, Kende studied at the National Academy of Art in Budapest, also in Italy and France. He settled in Los Angeles in 1932 and maintained a studio-home at 1123 El Centro Avenue. He died there on September 2, 1952.
